Hoyt Hutchinson was arrested and charged with first-degree criminal mischief after popping a “Baby Trump” balloon on Saturday, but the Alabama fan won’t have to pay any of his legal fees thanks to donations from fellow Trump supporters.A GoFundMe page (Restitutions for Baby Trump Stabber) was created for the 32-year-old, who slashed the balloon ahead of the president’s visit to the LSU vs. Alabama game. As of Monday afternoon, the account had raised $40,699, well past its intended $6,000 goal. The balloon, which is more than 20 feet tall and features a cartoon-style depiction of the president in a diaper and holding a cellphone for tweeting, was set up at a park near Bryant-Denny Stadium.Hutchinson used a knife to slash the ballon and put an 8-foot-long hole in the back, according to The Associated Press.WARNING: The video of Hutchinson’s arrest contains profanity. After his arrest, Hutchinson shared a video announcing his GoFundMe page for his legal fees — and said he would donate any remaining funds to the Republican Party.”Some liberals tried to come to my hometown and start some trouble. That ain’t happening,” Hutchinson said. “I did get arrested. I got charged. That’s all right. I’d do it again given the opportunity.”MORE: Alabama warns against ‘disruptive behavior’ during Trump’s visit to LSU gameEarlier in the day, he shared a video to Facebook as he was driving to Monnish Park, where the balloon was located.”I’m shaking I’m so mad right now,” Hutchinson said. “I’m fixing to pop this balloon. Without a doubt.”The balloon is often taken to Trump’s appearances as a way to protest him. It made its debut in July 2018 when local activists brainstormed a way to troll the president while he visited London. Now several groups raise money to bring replicas of it to places in the U.S.Despite the balloon drama, Trump did make his way inside the football stadium for Saturday’s game and received a standing ovation from fans.
