‘He’s here to stay!’ Man United star says Marcus Rashford is no flash in the pan

first_img Marcus Rashford celebrates scoring for Manchester United Michael Carrick has hailed Manchester United teammate Marcus Rashford’s rise as ‘incredible’ – and insisted the teenage striker is no flash in the pan. After being handed his first-team chance in February, 18-year-old Rashford has made a stunning impact at Old Trafford. He scored twice on his senior debut against FC Midtjylland before repeating the trick in his first Premier League game against Arsenal. He also hit the winner in last month’s Manchester derby and scored a brilliant solo goal – his sixth in 11 games – in Wednesday’s night’s FA Cup quarter-final win over West Ham.“It’s incredible,” Carrick said of Rashford’s emergence.“It’s so good to see young lads come in, do well and take their chance. Not in his wildest dreams could he have predicted the last two or three months that he’s had.“He’s still got his feet on his ground though. He keeps coming in, he doesn’t change, he works hard, he listens, he’s willing to learn and I think he’s got a great chance of staying at the top for a long time.“I don’t think it’s a flash in the pan, in and out. I think he’s here to stay and goals like that, we’ll welcome more of them.” 1last_img read more
